There is a handwritten brain connection that is very important. Pen to paper goes deeper to create brain pathways that enhance language skills, memory, critical thinking, and creativity. Cursive handwriting augments these skills even more. I have found that students who don't form letters easily, don't want to write and therefore don't want to do work. Foundational skills such as handwriting, spelling and grammar are crucial to being able to do high-level organization and writing skills. When students are able to handwrite fluently, there is enough brain power left for the other skills needed.
