I love Henry Borenson's foundational algebra program that follows math progression from concrete to pictorial to abstract solidifying concepts! It's the best!! I have taught hundreds of students this program and am able to deliver it most efficiently. Using bears and dice and a balance scale, students have fun building linear equations and then have fun simplifying them by removing the same bears and dice from each side. Anyone who knows their multiplication facts (usually 8+) can do this program. I have had several students who love it so much that they've taken it two or three times and help me teach others. Hands-On Equations ® 26 lessons are broken into 3 books. Students earn certificates after completing each book. Book one addresses "x". Book two addresses "-x". Book three applies all the learned strategies with negative numbers. This is a must have for any elementary, middle school, high school, college or adult student who wants a successful experience with algebra. Especially for elementary students, the positive impact on mathematical interest and self-esteem is a wonderful benefit.
