The basis of the US English language consists of eight parts of speech.

    • Noun: Names a person, place, thing, or idea
    • Pronoun: Takes the place of a noun
    • Verb: Describes an action or state of being
    • Adjective: Describes or modifies a noun or pronoun
    • Adverb: Describes or modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb
    • Preposition: Shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence
    • Conjunction: Connects words, phrases, and clauses
    • Interjection: Exclamation!

I enjoy teaching the exciting ways to learn the English language.  Exploring these parts and the endless possibilities is what language is all about.  Knowing how these basic parts work is the foundation of great writing and verbal skills.

When tutoring any subject, we must start with a good foundation that can be easily built upon to gain further complexities.  Ultimately striving to "break" some of the rules for creative purposes, my goal is to provide greater understanding and a solid grasp on these foundational 8 parts of speech.
