Students love to learn with Digi-Block Mathematics!  They often ask, "Can we do Digi-Block now?"  or say, "Yes!  Digi-Blocks!" when I tell them it is time for math.  Digi-Blocks make it fun by building and playing.  Students easily learn place value, borrowing and carrying by packing and unpacking the blocks and building trains.  The blocks can also be used to multiply and divide. The Digi-Blocks make it easy to see long division in action.  Students marvel at the tiny Digi-Blocks that are used for decimals.  Digi-Block Mathematics follows math progression learning by first mastering concrete, then pictorial, then abstract.  The program starts at age 4 and progresses through grade 6.

Decades ago, it was a gift to be asked to attend a Singapore Math workshop. I wondered, "If Singapore is number one in the world for math achievement, why aren't we using it?" I took my son through the Singapore Math curriculum starting from the beginning. Being a math teacher, I was super impressed when he was in the fourth grade and was doing math problems faster than I was! I was so excited to share this program that I taught a week long workshop at the MSSM Educators' Camp. A high school teacher was in awe that his high school students were trying to solve the same problems that fifth grade Singapore Math students were easily solving using the unit bar method. Singapore Math is for students in grades 1 to 7.

I love Henry Borenson's foundational algebra program that follows math progression from concrete to pictorial to abstract solidifying concepts! It's the best!! I have taught hundreds of students this program and am able to deliver it most efficiently. Using bears and dice and a balance scale, students have fun building linear equations and then have fun simplifying them by removing the same bears and dice from each side. Anyone who knows their multiplication facts (usually 8+) can do this program. I have had several students who love it so much that they've taken it two or three times and help me teach others. Hands-On Equations ® 26 lessons are broken into 3 books. Students earn certificates after completing each book. Book one addresses "x". Book two addresses "-x". Book three applies all the learned strategies with negative numbers. This is a must have for any elementary, middle school, high school, college or adult student who wants a successful experience with algebra. Especially for elementary students, the positive impact on mathematical interest and self-esteem is a wonderful benefit.
